A little over a year ago, we broke ground at Garvies Point. 6 months later we began sales at The Beacon at Garvies Point and have already sold over 30 condominiums totaling over $33 million. Here are some highlights from our successful year.
In March, we opened our model residence at the Garvies Point Welcome Center. Visitors were able to get a taste for the finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms at The Beacon. Glen Cove based design team Studio Grella, designed the project. Furnishings and accessories were provided by Safavieh. The model enhanced the Welcome Center's already impressive 20-foot scale model of the Garvies Point development and interactive presentation screens.
RXR also revealted their plans for Village Square in downtown Glen Cove. Less than a mile from Garvies Point, RXR will build 146 rental residences, which also will feature retail space on the ground level and a public plaza.
The attorney general approved the offering plan for The Beacon and sales began in earnest. The Beacon comprises 167 condos in 1, 2 and 3 bedroom layouts. Most residences feature balconies, with larger outdoor spaces on the Terrace-level Courtyard and rooftop Penthouses. Amenities include a saltwater outdoor pool, fitness center, yoga studio, lounge, library, club room and screening room. Prices start at $575,000.
During what Gov. Cuomo dubbed "the summer of hell", ferry service arrived in Glen Cove. Glen Cove residents got to commute to work on one of two ferries from July to September. Unfortunately, the ferry has closed for the time being but will be back when Garvies Point opens to residents in 2019. Check out social media reactions to the ferry.
This was a record year for super storms in the United States. Garvies Point was featured in a Newsday story about how developers are spending millions to protect their residents from storms.
In case you missed it, Glen Cove was featured in the New York Times's "Living In" section. Garvies Point, Village Square and Debra Quinn Petkanas , a member of the sales team and life-long Glen Cove native, were featured prominently in the story.
We closed out the year by giving back to our community. The team at Garvies Point had a great time decorating our "Merry Tree" for the city of Glen Cove. It warmed our hearts to play Santa to several needy Glen Cove families with gifts of toys, clothes and food through Harbor Child Care's Adopt a Family program. RXR also donated space to the City of Glen Cove for the display of the city's Christmas Tree and Menorah at Village Square.
From the team at Garvies Point, we wish you a happy New Year!
We hope to see you soon at the Garvies Point Welcome Center. The sales office is open and ready for business! Visit us 7 days a week from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to learn more about living at Garvies Point and RXR's vision for Glen Cove.
